WADS

Led by guitarist João “Alforreca”, the Wads began in mid-1986 and were from the Palmela area (Setubal), At the end of 1987 João left the band. Bassist Rui Piedade takes over as rhythm guitarist and Luis Nunes (ex-Comme Restus) is recruited for bass. By then the line-up consisted of Paulo vocals/ lead guitar, Rui Piedade rhythm guitar, Luis Nunes bass, Miguel keys and Carlos Leão drums. This line-up made its live debut on December 5th at the 135th anniversary party at the Sociedade Filarmonica de Loureiros hall in Palmela. On January 8th 1988 they played at the Carangueijus pub in Setubal. A demo was recorded, with the songs “The End Of Life (instrumental)” and “O Mundo Está no Fim”. Around this time, they were preparing to re-record both songs, adding another song “Jardins de Pedra”. “Hungry Hearts”, "Fim" and “Hang Fire” were other songs that were part of the band's repertoire. In 1988 the band began touring pubs and bars in the Palmela and Setubal area, playing one of the dates with Teia.
