UNSILENT


Unsilent was officially formed on January 1st 1990 in Algueirão, Mem Martins. The band completed the line up on May, consisting of Gonzo vocals, Mário Rodrigues "Stein" (ex-Extortion) lead guitar, Pedro Koko guitar, Marinho bass and Joe drums. After 11 months of rehearsals, they decided to record 4 songs that would result in the first demo. "Wearing Black" demo contained "Portrait Of a Loser", "No Aim In Life", "Blank of Emotions" and "Wearing Black". Recorded at Abrunheira Studios (the drummer Joe´s garage) in November 4th 1990. On February 2nd 1991 the band opened for Enforce at Clube Desportivo de Queluz and one month later on March 3rd in Odivelas with Afterdeath.

SHANGAI BLUE


Shangai Blue appeared in November 1991, in Baixa da Banheira, Moita, by guitarists Sérgio Palma and Victor Brás (both Ibéria roadies) and João Alexandre drums (ex-Ibéria). Barrocas and Miguel Ângelo joins later, respectively bass and vocals. After two months of rehearsals and with only 5 songs the band played their first gig, at Gare Bar, Barreiro. By this time, February 1992 the group enters the Heaven Sound Studios to record 3 tracks, "Stuck To The Ground", "War Games" and "I Know You Love Your Web (The Thing/ S.B.)", that would be released as a demo tape. The track "War Games" was included in the Birth Of a Tragedy compilation.

TNT



Formed by Francisco Landum guitar/ vocals (Ibéria, Samurai), C. Frederico guitar, C. Casimiro bass and V. Cruz drums. In 1981 they achieved great success with the song "Tudo Bem". In June the song reach the top Todos No Top on program TNT. In late 1981 its released another single, "Gatinha de Luxo" which has not had much success as the debut one. The song was still some weeks in the top national singles of the Pop-Top-Rock on Radio Renascença. In 1982 they change label to the Radio Triunfo, where the 3rd 7"single was released with the tracks "Miragem" and "Tive Uma Ideia". The group eventually finished shortly after.

SAMURAI


Samurai were a Hard FM/Pop project of Francisco Landum guitar/ vocals (ex-TNT/ Ibéria) and Manuel Cardoso guitar/ vocals (prog group Tantra) with the help of Tónica bass and Tony Duarte drums. At the end of 1986 the band recorded their debut album "Samurai" at M.I.D.I. Studios, produced by Landum and Cardoso. The album included 9 songs, half sung in English, half in Portuguse, "Dance Forever", "Shout For Love", "Amazona", "I Know", "Radio Suicide", "Bandeira", "Sem Ti", "Sexo No Chão", "Amazona (O Regresso das Amazonas)". A maxi single of the track "Dance Forever" was only released in Spain and Sweden (ever released ??)Their first gig was at the Voxmanias disco on May 29th 1987. At Rock Rendez Vous venue on November 30th. The group lasted only months, giving more two or three concerts, and even was thought of a second album (there were already some songs made and recorded) but with the departure of Landum to Iberia, the project remained in standby.

ALARME




From Nazareth came Alarme, consisting of Carlos Cavalheiro vocals (ex-Xarhanga), Altino Borda D´Água guitar, Silvino Pais da Silva guitar, Orlando Borda D´Água bass, and Victor Bombas drums. On July 5th 1981 they were winners on the -Rock Festival held in Coimbra, and a year later, riding the wave of so-called boom of the Portuguese rock they sign with Imavox label and released a single with the songs "Desconto Especial" and "Autocarro Diariamente. " The sound of the group was rude and with strong influences from hard rock of the late '70s. They opened in 1982 for Dr.Feelgood and also in Cascais in December 3rd 1982 for Girlschool and Rainbow. They breakup in 1983. The band reforms in 2009.

DECAY




From Parede, Lisbon, came the Black/ Thrash Metal band Decay. Formed by two friends, J. A. guitar/vocals and Nuno guitar, on August 1990. With the collaboration of Pedro drums and Carlos bass, the first rehearsals took place in September. In October Jorge (Cunnilingus) joins in as vocalist. In December the band recorded their 3 track promo tape, with the songs "No Tomorrow", "Our Existence" and "Too Fast!" and in the same month they played their first gig in Parede, December 16th. A 2nd gig is held in Santarém, March 17th 1991 and soon Pedro and Jorge leaved the band, being replaced by Mike (Moonspell) and João (Moonspell, Grog, Ironsword) respectively. It is around this time that they changed the name to Decayed.

LAKRAU



Band from Loures, their first formation dates back from 1990 and was composed by Carlos Pereira bass/ vocals, João Silva drums (both ex-Massive Roar). To them later join Ricardo Santos guitar. After six months of rehearsals, there was a need to have another guitarist, entered João Alves. With this line up the band composed the first songs. In late 1990 the repertoire was still scarce but ready to be presented to the public. Thus, on February 9th 1991, Lakrau played for the first time live, with Mantron, at the Voz do Operário, Lisbon. On November 7th they played at Johnny Guitar, Lisbon, and about a month later, with Massacre at the Pavilhão da Associação de Moradores de Sto Antonio dos Cavaleiros, Lisbon. Later the band enters Heaven Sound studios to record the track "Enemy" which would be integrated on the compilation "The Birth of a Tragedy" (MTM Records) released in 1992. August 1th 1992 they participated in the Tramagal Thrash´92, Abrantes, sharing the stage with Thornado and Afterdeath. In 1992, Carlos Pereira leaves the group to integrate Kossundolola (reggae band). Drummer João Silva stopped playing when the band has stopped its activities in November 1994. The group had a second phase during 1993-1994, after the departure of Carlos Pereira. At that time, are incorporated into the band guitarist João Paulo and bassist João Andre. In 1994 a 2 track demo ("Time Out " and "Endless Fall") is recorded at the STS Studios located in Sacavem, roduced by Paulo Soeiro. The band split up in November 1994.
